MVA ON PHILADELPHIA AVENUE

 

July 3rd  - A11-8 responded at 10:56 along with Squad 41 and E43 to the 5200 blk of Philadelphia Avenue for an auto accident. Units arrived to find a rear-end collision and one minor injury, after assessment the occupant refused treatment. All units cleared the scene at 11:15.

1 TRAPPED - 1 EJECTED ON HICKORY RUN ROAD

 

June 30th  - At 13:38 PHVFC was alerted to Hickory Run Road for an auto accident with reported ejection, due to being under staffed E15-1 was added to the box. Lt.11 (Reed) arrived shortly after to find a single vehicle into a tree and confirmed one also trapped,

AC-11 (Denham) requested air medical to the scene and E53 for LZ Ops. The crew from E15-1 arrived stabilizing the vehicle and began extrication while E11-2 arrived providing a safety line and assisting with the extrication. The patient was extricated and turned over to EMS within 8 minutes after removing both front & rear driver side doors and the "B" post. A11-8 with M84 transported to the LZ and A11-9 transported two patients to the local hospital meeting M118 enroute. Both Engine Companies cleared the scene at 14:13 and the LZ cleared at 14:22.

AFTER THE STORM

 

June 29th  - It's no longer about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.... It's what's under it now!

 


FORGE HILL ROAD ROLLOVER

 

June 26th  - E11-2 and A11-9 responded at 10:13 this morning to the 13500 blk of Forge Hill Road for an auto accident. While enroute Communication advised of an SUV that rolled several times and the occupant was self extricated - not injured. Units arrived on scene confirming such, A11-9 obtained a refusal while the Engine crew secured hazards and placed hi-dry on the fluid spill. after the vehicle was removed by towing, E11-2 turned the scene over to PennDot and cleared at 11:35.

 

 

 


BRUSH FIRE ON CUMBERLAND HIGHWAY

 

June 21st  - While working the Cash Bash Drawing E11-2, Brush 11, E251 and A273 (EMS transfer) responded around 17:00 to Cumberland Hwy between Roxbury and the PA Turnpike for a brush fire. E11-2 arrived at the intersection of Cumberland Hwy & Mowersville Rd (Co.51's area) with a 200' area along a bank burning and contained it to that area. E11-2 cleared the scene within 15 minutes.

 


MACHINERY ON FIRE AT L.E.A.D.

 

June 20th  - E11-2 and A11-8 responded at 18:35 on Box 13-1 Letterkenny Army Depot at Building 350 for machinery on fire inside. Co.13 arrived with nothing evident and requested all mutual aid units to stage at the main gate as they investigated, after finding the fire out and contained to the machinery Command held Co.13 releasing the others. E11-2 handled the transfer to Co.13 until being released at 19:15

 


THE RESCUE-ENGINE RETURNS TO SERVICE

 

June 18th  - As of 22:00 this evening E11-2 has returned to service.

 

All members be sure to look over the equipment as there have been some minor changes made. An updated inventory list will be posted soon!

 


MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN LOWER HORSE VALLEY

 

June 15th  - Co.11 and Co.21 units responded at 15:05 to the area of 13365 Upper Strasburg Road Box 11-06 for a motorcycle accident. The Engine crews assisted with patient packaging and securing the cycle and scene, A11-8 transported one priority 2 patient to the local hospital. Units cleared the scene at 15:47.

ATV ACCIDENT WITH FLY-OUT

 

June 14th  - At 16:22 A11-8, E11-1 and Medic 84 responded to the 10000 blk of Cumberland Hwy for an ATV accident with one reported unconscious. Units arrived to find a male patient in the middle of a dirt road unconscious and requested air med to the scene, the ATV was found approximately 100 yards at the top of a hill where it finally stopped. EMS crews attended to the patient while the Engine crew established the LZ at the scene. Crews assisted with a hot load onto Life Lion and cleared the scene at 17:23.

 

 

 


BUSY DAY INCLUDES MULTIPLE ALARM

APARTMENT BUILDING FIRE

 

June 9th  - PHVFC crews stayed busy today handling 11 EMS runs and a multiple alarm apartment building fire in Chambersburg. EMS stared the day at 03:46 filling the WFD on the first multiple alarm hotel fire in Chambersburg then being transferred into Co.1 for about 1.5 hours. At 12:10 handled a medical on Roxbury Road in Southampton Twp. With a short break EMS was back at it at 14:53 for a medical at 765 Fifth Ave in Chambersburg. At 15:02 E11-1 was alerted and responded to fill the 2nd Alarm assignment at 690 Broad Street for the apartment building on fire, arriving on scene picked up E13-2's supply line at the hydrant in front of Mary B. Sharp Elementary School and the crew assisted in the exposure buildings with extensive overhaul operations for the next 3.5 hours. A11-9 was alerted at 15:04 as an additional BLS unit in rehab, after clearing the medical A11-8 was called to the rehab sector at 15:27. Both Ambulances were released by Command around 17:30 and A11-8 transferred to Co.1 where they handled 5 additional calls for the Borough from 18:29 until 19:35.

E11-1 cleared the fire scene around 20:00 and A11-8 cleared the transfer at 21:31.

A big thanks to A147 (Newville) and E236 (Mt Holly Springs) for covering the "Hall" for the duration of the incidents.

 

 

 

 


MEMBERS ATTEND FIREHOUSE DEDICATION

IN WASHINGTON DC

 

June 7th  - Six members of PHVFC headed for Washington DC this morning to attend the "Dedication of a Lifetime" where the station of Engine 17 was named "The Jackson H. Gerhart House", Jack was appointed to Engine 17 on Feb 3rd, 1963 and retired on Sept 24th, 1994, he was also a member of PHVFC and several other local departments in Franklin and Cumberland Counties. Even with temperatures hitting over 100, roughly 200 people attended the Ceremony making a big success. Everyone enjoyed the Chicken and Pork BBQ which was prepared by the DCFD Barbeque Team.

And BIG THANKS to the crew from Co.56 (McConnellsburg) for covering the "Hall" while we were away!!

    

 


EMS STAYS BUSY

 

June 3rd  - After two back to back EMS calls in the morning and a transfer to Co.73 in the afternoon, A11-8 was alerted at 18:38 to the intersection of Letterkenny Rd and Hammond Rd for an auto accident (Box 44-03). A11-8 packaged and transported one priority 2 BLS patient to the local hospital.

CRASH ON MOLLY PITCHER HWY NORTH

 

June 2nd  - A11-8 responded at 17:30 to the intersection of Molly Pitcher Highway North and Clearfield Road in Southampton Twp for an auto accident (Box 15-1). E15-1 arrived with all occupants self extricated, A11-8 arrived as the first due BLS units and packaged one patient for transport to the local hospital.
