PHVFC HISTORY

The first firehouse was built in 1946 with room for one piece of equipment. The company building continued to grow through the years with a 30' X 52' addition added to the station in 1956. In 1976 another 30' X 50' addition was completed along with a "watchroom". This building stood as the home of "Company 11" until it was finally out grown. Our old station was demolished when we occupied out new $1.5 million dollar station on January 23rd, 1999.

-

Our first engine was purchased from the Delta Fire Company in 1951. Our apparatus lineup continued through the years to include the purchase of a used Pirsch Pumper from the Franklin Fire Company Chambersburg, Pa. A new Ford Darley was purchased in 1966, a new American Fire Apparatus 2000 gallon tanker in 1971, a 1979 used Mack CF Pumper and a new 1984 Sutphen Pumper which we still run today along with our 2003 KME Rescue/Pumper.

-

Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company, after assisting other ambulance companies with the sick and injured for years, started its own ambulance service in 1972. A used 1967 Cadillac ambulance was purchased for $3000.00. It was replaced with a new orange and white Cadillac ambulance in 1974. In 1977 a used lime yellow van ambulance was purchased, which initiated the change of all color schemes to lime yellow. In 1980 e new Ford Horton Concept II ambulance was purchased, our first box style ambulance. A new Mobile Medical ambulance was purchased in a 1992. A move to run two ambulances was made in 1977 with the purchase of a 1991 Ford Road Rescue ambulance. Today we run a 1998 Ford Med Tech ambulance, and a 2002 Ford PL Custom ambulance. With the purchased of our new KME Rescue/Pumper and PL Custom ambulance we decided to paint these and all future apparatus blue and white.

The Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company is proud of our humble beginnings and equally proud of its quality of it emergency services it provides to the citizens of our community today. Our volunteers will continue to give their all to provide the professional services our neighbors deserve.
